Inspired by the stunning tradition of oil painting and artists like Caravaggio who took them to the next level, this was my first oil painting. I was intrigued by how long oil paints take to dry, which meant that I could pay more attention to the detail versus acrylics which take longer to dry and require more intensive strokes. While unfinished, this piece gave me a great respect for the great talents of the past and made me want to explore working with oils more in my craft. (Created on a stretched canvas with oil paints and brushes)
